Real Estate in Goldens Bridge

To some degree, real estate in Goldens Bridge is similar to Somers (where our firm maintains our Westchester office) and other areas in upper Westchester and I say that not just as a real estate attorney, but as an avid cyclist who rides through the Goldens Bridge area on a regular basis.

What does that mean to you if you’re buying or selling in Goldens Bridge?

First, Goldens Bridge is an exceptionally beautiful area with a feel that leans slightly more rural than suburban.

Second, Goldens Bridge is considered upper Westchester so the majority of residents own their homes. If you’re looking for a rental in Goldens Bridge, they may be few and far between.

Third, most homes sit on lots ranging from two to four acres, which is ample space when compared to real estate in mid and lower Westchester.

Fourth, Goldens Bridge is serviced by a Metro North station of the same name which is operated by a private entity, LAZ Parking. While the website continues to state there is a waitlist for monthly permits, that seems hard to believe considering the majority of Metro North parking lots in upper Westchester appear to be operating at about 25% capacity during weekdays, at best.

Finally, the hamlet has one primary shopping area that includes an Acme supermarket, post office, Dunkin Donuts, a pizza place, wine and liquor store, and a bank. About a mile or two further north on Route 22 and one can find Purdy’s Farmer and the Fish, a fantastic local restaurant that everyone raves about. And only a few miles to the south sits the village of Katonah where one can find more restaurants, local shops, and the Katonah Museum of Art.
